Hello Friends, Sue and I on ANGEL LOUISE are receiving the list again LOUD AND CLEAR from across the Atlantic in LONDON, where we are living aboard at St Katharine Docks, in sight of Tower Bridge. We have been here with 12 other north american boats for the last six months following our ride across the North Atlantic. Our plans: We leave London in 5 weeks; Hope to head for a crossing of the North Sea to Holland; Stop in Amsterdam; Stop at boatyard in Zeider Zee to put mast on deck; Proceed up the IJssel; Rhine River; Mainz River; Canal from Mainz to Danube; Danube to Black Sea; Black Sea to Straights of Bosperus & Dardenelles; Istanbul; A warmer winter marina on the Turkish Coast of Asia for next winter! The live aboard life remains more than we ever thought it would be!
We were puzzled that after so long with so little from the list, we received so many emails at once covering the several months time spread. We were even more surprised to see that after earlier months of Skip talking of taking Flying Pig to Haiti, there was a recent email where Skip and Lydia now said they are planning on selling Flying Pig. (after more work is done) We wish them well. We are sad hear of their planned selling of the boat. We have met them on the Chesapeake and in the Bahamas in 2009. After all the challenges of Flying Pig - including the wreck and abandonment of Flying Pig on a reef in the Florida Keys in a storm on her first long journey - and Skip and Lydia's having to abandon ship by USCG Heliocopter for later salvage after the storm abated, I cannot imagine a vessel going through so much. I know Skip has spent large amounts of time and money over the years working as an indentured servant on Flying Pig and it must be a tough decision to sell. Though he received her back after the insurance settlement for the boat after his shipwreck, he has done a lot of work and we hope he receives a fair price when he ultimately resells Flying Pig to someone. We plan on the Eastern Mediterranean being the farthest we will be from the US and look forward to a couple years from now when hopefully we will have sailed back and may again see familiar faces of some on this list! fair winds and good luck to all!
