Basically, now would be the time to provide for sucking the fuel (and more
to the point, the water) from the lowest part of the tank. A well for the
water (and glop) to accumulate in would be even better, with the fuel
sucked from the bottom of the well.
A fuel tank should have fuel - and only fuel - in it. No water.
Arrange things so any water in the tank is sucked into the primary filter
whenever fuel is sucked from the tank and you will eliminate 90% of fuel
problems (which are 90% of diesel engine problems).
