I don't know Jim Bircher's email address, and wouldn't bother anyway:
there are approximately 7 billion other featherless bipeds on this
planet with whom I'd rather spend my time, and I don't have another
single second to waste on him - except to warn other folks.

That's been my general experience of people in this kind of work, and
what makes this so egregious. As I've at least implied in the story, my
approach to doing business is a sort of an intentional naivete/willful
blindness: I deal with people as honestly and forthrightly as I can, and
expect exactly the same in return. It's a world I *like* living in,
dammit, and I'm willing to pay for it with the occasional
disappointment. Yep, sometimes I get screwed over - I got off easy this
time - but it's actually quite rare, and I really enjoy being able to
trust people and not spend my life on the lookout for "who's trying to
rip me off now?" That's too high of a cost for me to pay.

This does not mean that I won't say something when I run into dishonesty
- that I will not, in fact, spread the word where it will do the most
good. In the same way that I spread word of exceptionally good
businesses, I'll talk freely about the ones to watch out for. I.e.,
while I do believe in a certain flavor of karmic justice, I am always
happy to help it along.

Thanks, Skip - hope to run across you sometime soon!
