Glad I'm planning to stay outside of all that - although I might duck in
and see Savannah, anyway. I recall crossing Sapelo Sound right after
Hurricane Gordon; the ICW markers were gone, the few telephone poles to
be seen stuck out of the water not much higher than the markers usually
do, and the marshes were broad, featureless lakes. Had me pretty jumpy,
since going aground at that point would have been a real disaster (GPS
plotters weren't even a gleam in an engineer's eye back then.)
