Removed all bitmap fonts
Yes, I did exactly this. This saved 25 MB from the ISO size. But
this also made the non-XFT font setup very crippled (read:
unusable). From now on, applications that need fonts like
-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso8859-1 will fail
to find such fonts. Such applications are usually broken WRT i18n
anyway, and shouldn't be present on the LiveCD.
This removal has absolutely no effect on applications that use Xft,
e.g. on all gtk2 apps.
Whoops. This (?) also causes Firefox and Thunderbird to segfault on
startup. Will fix after more investigation.
The reason must be different: there's no segfault with full X11R7.0
(i.e. all apps and libs) but exactly the same font setup. I suspect
that the problem (libXp?) will just go away if one does a full
rebuild. Justin: could you please verify this?
Yes, that's libXp and other xprint-related things.
