the live cd stops loading while starting init, it doesn't get far enough to show init version or anything. livecd 6.1.1-3, booting on a P2 266 64m ram, booting from a floppy bootmanager (mobo doesn't support cd boot). thanks.
Known problem, can't fix until additional details are supplied.
Please do the following: 1) Test if it is a "dma/nodma doesn't work" kernel bug observed earlier on LiteOn LTN485 CD-ROM, by booting with the "linux ide=nodma" line and waiting 10 minutes while the buggy Linux kernel recognizes the buggy drive and finally disables DMA. 2) Verify that it is not a unionfs bug (yes, I treat any kernel containing unionfs as tainted). Early /sbin/hotplug processes are a very good stress-test. To verify if this is indeed the problem, please wait while Justin supplies an URL to his copy of the DM-based CD. Skip this step if Justin doesn't have the DM-based CD anymore. I have this CD, but can't afford to upload it due to very high traffic costs in Russia. 3) If the steps above didn't help, provide the last line of output from the failing boot. -- Alexander E.
