I want to use the liveCD to build a LFS system but one thing puzzles
me: is there a need to build a temporary system as per the book ? I
mean, isn't the booting of the liveCD in fact a temporary system with
all the required tools, gcc, libc, etc... ?
Is it then possible to simply (after setting up drive, etc...) move
to building the real system as per chapter 6 ?
You obviously have not tried it. The temporary system must have the following
properties:
1) Be visible both inside and outside the chroot
2) Have no file conflicts with the final system
The LiveCD system doesn't satisfy (1), that's why you need to build /tools.
