Please answer all questions that I asked in http://linuxfromscratch.org/pipermail/livecd/2007-August/004680.html As for defaulting to libata, this is currently a no-no for laptops with host-protected area on the disk. Old IDE drivers ignored it, while with libata the end of the disk becomes inaccessible by default. libata.ignore_hpa=1 option might be the solution, but I have read somewhere that a per-disk option (as opposed to a global libata option) is planned. -- Alexander E.
