Despite my inclinations otherwise, it always appears that the community as a whole, for one reason or another, favors minimalism and less configuration. I suppose that goes in the spirit of LFS and 'your distro, your rules'. And in the end, I guess the "blank page" makes it more useful to those already inclined to roll their own.
