Salsaman, It seems the problem is unique to my system. So I am going to
reinstall LXDE, launch it.....and see if KDE is doing something naughty.
I use KDE not because I am a fan, but because I have additional apps
available to me over LXDE.
So I'm going to experiment and see if a different DE does the "trick".
Give me a couple of hours and I'll email the group.
