Hello,
I use LiVES because:
- It's opensource and adaptable / connectible to many pieces of software.
- input v4l2videoloopback, which allows me to generate video content using
many program languages and still apply live effects.
- output v4l2videoloopback, which allows my to map the content in an
external program like Pure Data to map the video s team on 3D objects.
(video mapping)
- connect camera's, use live effects on it and map it on objects.
- run mutliple instances so can manipulate multiple live streams with
effects on a single system.
- optimizations possible on so many levels. (stream resolution, storage
compression/type, in memory disk's, effect cpu usage tuning) you can get
more out of it then most vj software packages if you know what you are
doing.
- it runs on Linux!
- good midi / OSCP control, even over network.
- direct support/contact with developer possible without to much hassle.
- very extended format support for imports.
- And it's all free as bird. :)
