How can you even use LMMS properly on a screen smaller than 800x800? I
can't even imagine the horror of having 18 instrument plugins and 12
miscellaneous small windows open at the same time there...

Anyway, it's just the splash screen, so does it really matter if it
doesn't fit the screen in some corner cases? It's not like it's part of
the UI or anything. Also making it big is a good way of communicating to
the user right from the start that "hey, you'd better use a larger
screen for this program".
