In the very beginnings we were using qmake project files. However
qmake is rather limited and complicated to use when it comes to
detecting requirements. Furthermore it doesn't provide automatic
mechanisms to build Windows installers/Mac bundles (like CMake/CPack
do). I agree that building LMMS on Windows would be *a little bit*
easier but as long as we have our convenient cross compiling
toolchain, this shouldn't that important (besides the fact that you
can set up a native MinGW build environment on Windows as well (which
you would have to do in either case at least for all required
libraries)).
