I removed .lmmsrc.xml prior to running, and then again just for good

I do not get that behaviour at all on my system. I have tried it a few
times. Can you try the 14.04 version and see if it is still present?
I am not sure why that is not working on your system, other than that
you are running 12.04
Since this package will only be released (Lord willing, and the creeks
don't rise) for 14.04 please test it there. This will give the most
accurate feedback.
