What timer? If you don't understand, don't worry about it. It's all
technical stuff really.

No. That'd defeat the entire point of it. The point is there is only one
tempo track, and only one place where tempo is automated. That's also
how it's done in almost all other DAW's, and the reasons are pretty
obvious - tempo is a special case, because it needs to be "known"
"before" everything else, even other automations... in order to
guarantee accurate tempo, it's much easier if we handle it separately as
a special case, rather than just another automation.

Also, this way it'll be much easier to implement tempo-based effects in
the future, eg. tempo tapping, swing...
