Are you saying that isn't the case now? I've always seen the B&B  
editor as a very close relative of a drum machine...

One upside of a special tempo "track" is that it doesn't have to take  
any more UI space than e.g. the bar markers on the timeline. But how  
it will be presented is a detail I'll leave to others.
