Mm, what does moving to KVR boards mean? What would the users think about that?

Then phpBB is, in my opinion, one of the most user-friendly forums (or maybe it's just me, 'cause I wrote in a phpBB forum since I was 15 °-°) . The only problem with our forum was that the words marked as "too common" to be searched were too many (seriously, I couldn't search "Midi Windows" and I had to use google with "site:")
Let's see what the new board offers anyway.

I vote we move to KVR boards. They would like us to list our software there anyway from the dialog I've had back and forth with them.

Just please try to stick with a phpBB, it's the best forum
    platform imho
    and I love it.

I've managed a few forum platforms and phpBB is the cheapest, but certainly not the best. :) I've had much better success with commercial forums as upgrades are much cleaner and they are less prone to viruses and spam, but that is after managing several forums for several years.

I'd rather not get back into the business of managing forums so if there is a project page that is willing to take us on, I would be a big fan of that.
