Yes. Old presets may still work (no promises though, but I expect most
of them will).

Well, if you have old projects, you'll just have to finish them with 1.1
or 1.2 and render them to wavs. Then publish them, forget about it, and
make new music with 2.0.

I know it's not ideal from a user perspective, but from my perspective
(also as a user) it's even less ideal if LMMS development dies entirely
because the codebase becomes unmaintainable. I think instead of
constantly having small compat breakage because of piling hacks on top
of bugs, it's better to do one clean break, take the opportunity to
design things well so that it becomes easier to maintain backwards
compat in the future.
