Hi Bob,
Have you played with the audio interface setting? I am still
running the older LMMS on Win Vista, but I know I've had to change
the audio output setting. For my system, PortAudio works the best.
NOTE: You do have to restart LMMS to apply the changes...
Good luck!

Bob,
To play MIDI, usually you'll have a default soundfont setup.
For starters, I'd recommend using a grand piano soundfont:
You can set this option in your preferences.
When a MIDI file is played through Windows Media player (for
example) it uses some default soundfonts that come with the
player.
LMMS doesn't ship with these default soundfonts, so you will
get either 1. No noise or 2. The default soundfont sound.
Hope this helps!

I just
installed LLMS 0.4.1.4 on a Windows 7 laptop and the GUI
comes up, I can hit play and see the progress bar moving
across the tracks...but now sound.
I downloaded a small MIDI file and can't hear that
either.
However when I go to the COVERS folder and double click
on CapDan-Infinity2010.mmpz...I hear a helicopter type of
effect as the progress bar moves through time. The
various instruments begin playing when their MIDI clip
comes up...same with the samples...but it's all the
helicopter type noise.
What am I doing wrong?
