that would be interesting; i think we should remove these "controller
graphs" and replace them by audio-like automation (where that automation
has to be improved a lot!); and we should additionally offer "send
controller events", which behave like actual notes (no action on rewind,
not "graph-like" but "event-like", for devices which need to be set up
using combinations of CCs).

but yet the audio-like automation is much less powerful than the MIDi
controller graphs. we need to improve automation!
(drawable with the mouse, slotted controller editors which fit under the
piano roll as usual, copy, paste, modify functionality etc)

it might be possible to set the knob as "child" of the circular meter;
but that will probably cause minor graphical glitches, so i'd go with a
circular meter/circular knob-combined widget.
