I'm sure you can do that without losing the history (I actually did it once but 
I forgot the details). I'll try  if I've got time (tomorrow perhaps).

Frankly I don't know, I only know github, maybe it isn't the best, I can only  
assert that it's better than what sourceforge offers, interface-wise for the 
least.
