On launching Muse I get the (apparently quite common) warning:
Timing source frequency is 250hz, which is below the recommended minimum:
500hz!
This could lead to audible timing problems for MIDI.
Please see the FAQ on http://muse-sequencer.org for remedies.
Also please check console output for any further error messages.
On visiting http://muse-sequencer.org and following the links, I find
mostly FUD.
However, I have 'almost' found a solution for my machine, which I suspect
will be relevant for many other users.
I've posted here rather than the Muse user group as that one appears to be
mostly spam :(
The (almost) solution. (I'm on Debian Wheezy):
As suggested elsewhere, the command:
echo 3072 >/sys/class/rtc/rtc0/max_user_freq
'almost' solves the issue.
However...
The reason that it is only "almost" a solution, is that I can't find a way
to make this "stick".
Running as a standard user (also a member of "audio" group), I get
"permission denied".
Running with sudo
sudo echo 3072 >/sys/class/rtc/rtc0/max_user_freq
also returns "Permission denied".
What does work, is opening a root terminal and entering the command there.
1) Any idea why it works in a root terminal but not with "sudo"?
2) Any idea how to make the setting "stick" across reboots?
3) If there is an answer to (2) that works, please could it be added to
your FAQ :-)
BTW. Your home page has a link in the header to "Forum" that links to:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lmuse/
but no sign of a forum there.
