Are you sure you are are using the python support? It's part of the experimental stuff for remote controlling MusE and has, to my knowlege, not been touched in a long while. If you really want it, maybe try to edit CMakeLists.txt file and set ENABLE_PYTHON to ON? Possibly you already answered that question with cmake -i.
