Hi,

I just tried my first steps in MuSE. Although I used MuSE some years ago,
I forgot a lot in the meantime.

So I watched one of these Youtube-tutorials (thank you, Robert) about
MuSE which can be accessed via the MuSE home page, and I created my first
*.med file in MuSE 2.2.1, just to play around and learn.

This file has a LV2 synth track and a midi track. The instrument of the
synth track is "MDA DX10 LV2-0". I cannot remember which preset I had
assigned to this instrument. In the midi track, connected to the LV2
synth, I had defined some notes. The loop icon is activated. I defined
looping between the first and the 6th bar. The starter cursor (is this
the right term?) resides between the first and the 6th bar. The volume
(velocity) for the midi track is set to 127. I did not change any other
values in the fields of the left side (called "Track area"?) of what I
see within MuSE.

MuSE chrashes when I load this *.med file into MuSE, and if I do the
following in MuSE:

1. I click the play button.
2. I click the arrow down button right to the volume (velocity) field of
midi track 1, and keep the left mouse button pressed. Due to this, the
velocity value gets permanently lower.

, then first I can hear a very short tone of the synth instrument being
repeated very often, and then MuSE crashes: MuSE gets closed and
disappears.

I could cause this behaviour to be repeated several times.

I attached a dump file about this behaviour to this email. This dump file
does not contain a segmentation fault at the end, but I saw a
segmentation fault in my console (when I ran "muse2 -D") as the last
line of the dump in the console. I do not have this dump anymore because
I did not pipe it to a text file.

Is this a bug, or is my machine not correctly configured for music
production?

If this is a bug, shall I report it at the appropriate web address?

My system is a Ubuntu Studio 14.04.2 installation. I did not install
MuSE from the Ubuntu repositories, but I compiled MuSE 2.2.1 from
source.

Best regards,

Jens
