That's great news Tim! As soon as I get the chance I'll try MusE under FreeBSD.
BUT The last time I tried JACK under FreeBSD (an 11.0 pre-release) it failed to start. I filed a bug but someone has replied to that bug since to say they had the same prob but that JACK works under 11.0 RELEASE. FreeBSD is nice if you want proper ZFS support with all its great features like boot environments, infinite snapshots that don't slow your system down (unlike BTRFS), self-healing through scrubs etc. Whilst its not of much use to MusE FreeBSD has got a better performing networking stack than Linux, which Phoronix proved recently. It's also easier to configure FreeBSD than systemd based Linux and the kernel is much more manageable for anyone going there, plus you have dtrace for troubleshooting all that stuff. Those are its plus points but it is generally lagging behind Linux in desktop-y stuff such as games and multimedia production so this should be a step in the right direction for the project. Sorry if I'm telling you all how to cook eggs here but I'm sure someone on this list will know next to nothing about FreeBSD so hopefully that explained why this is interesting to me.
