So the real problem was that parse_tcp failed to properly recognize the header
length field in the TCP header. This is what I originally saw when I started
bisecting through the commits.
The commit I previously indicated did not preserve the repository in a
consistent state because the refactoring of buffer pools, buffers and packets
was a very big task, so it was decided that the changes would be introduced
without this restriction and that the repo would be buildable and working only
after everything has been merged.
Shmulik also identified the error with TCP packets being incorrectly marked as
erroneous and sent this patch:

I tested it and I confirm it solves the problem described by this bug. The
patch should get merged soon.
