I have some question about that patch series:
1. /debian/changelog file has version 0.8.0
it's ok to have empty changelog or fill it with git log.
The norm is to include at least a summary of the changes from the
previous version, but if that's too much effort then a simple
changelog entry like
* New upstream release
will suffice. As an example, I've just pointed Anders at
http://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs/main/j/jigit/unstable_changelog
which is the changelog for jigit, a package I maintain both upstream
and in Debian. The changes listed are summarised from the upstream VCS
logs to reduce verbosity.
While ODP is still changing so much, I don't think it's worth us
actually trying to upload our packages directly into the main Debian
or Ubuntu archive anyway. For now, I think the packages are more a
convenience for people to work with. Once we get to a longer-term
stable release, then it will make much more sense. To get into Debian,
we'll need an existing Debian developer (me, I guess!) to sign the
package and upload.
Who will maintain that change log? And can we get rid of that change log
from main repo?
Maxim.
2. names:
libodp.so.8.0.0 and libodp8-dev and odp8-bin
needs to be fixed to 0.9.0
Anders is responding to that separately I believe.
Cheers,
