Thanks Canonical!
This is a real boon for the Sri Lankan LoCo Team. We handed out a lot
of CDs for free at our DRP, and don't really have the resources to
make more during the next few weeks.

I was just wondering though, what about customs fees etc? I'd like to
order 500 or so, as we have several FOSS conferences coming up.
However, would we have to pay a huge amount on customs clearing etc?
The biggest amount I've ever ordered is 10, but a friend had also
managed 40 without any customs fee.

Anybody else have experiences with customs fees?

Also, if burning CDs locally is cheaper in the long run, what is
Canonical's stand on that? The local LUGgers have been awesome, and
have chipped in quite a bit, but it's beyond our scope to have a 100x
copies to hand out at events.

Sorry for the delay in this. We have been absolutely *swamped* with
requests and decided to delay the launch of the special request
functionality until we got a better handle on the regular requests.

We have added the special request functionality to the site, but not
linked it publicly yet. We will make it more visible soon, but for now
we are going to keep it slightly hidden as we try to catch up. If you
can wait a few weeks before placing your request, it would be greatly
appreciated.

However, *for LoCo teams only* you can log in and go to
https://shipit.ubuntu.com/specialrequest. You will need to explain in
the text field that you are representing a LoCo team and what you plan
to do with the CDs. I know it's somewhat risky to post this link to a
public mailing list, but please cooperate by not posting it to blogs,
other mailing lists, etc. We will approve requests for LoCo teams, but
may be forced to reject or reduce or delay requests from other people if
it spreads too widely (and that in turn will delay the processing of
_your_ request). We do intend to make this visible in the normal way,
but just not yet.

Thanks for your understanding.

Cheers,
Jane
