If 2009 is not the year of the Linux Desktop, it's at least going to be
the year of Ubuntu Jams aka kick-ass-loco-work-on-Ubuntu-itself. :-)

Absolutely!

I don't have any stories about this GBJ to share, just about the first
Ubuntu Berlin Release party - it happened in my appartment. I just told
people to mail me so I could give them my address.

It didn't take very long until I got emails saying "I'm going to bring
my wife and our neighbour, hope that's alright." - I got LOADS of those
emails and I was really worried it'd turn into a fiasco. In the end 40
people showed up and we partied until 5-6 in the morning - it was fantastic.

Don't be afraid offering your place for an event. You'll help a lot
giving people the cosy feeling of "I feel welcome in the Ubuntu
community" and you can build on that later on. (And probably find a
bigger location together the next time.)

Have a great day,
 Daniel
