Clarification on the current state of the Massachusetts LoCo team and
the tarnishing of our good name on this mailing list:

It certainly is. We have old and very well established groups here and
they know how to do their user group or develop group activities, we
liaise when we can, encourage cross membership and would gladly pair up
to run events. We've run events with various groups including the LUG,
obviously I wish we did more, I always do.

We will gladly accept people from the entire spectrum of FOSS, if we
were holding an event with Fedora then I'd expect to see both Ubuntu and
Fedora CDs. Of course the only people we've had trouble with is the FSF
who don't like Ubuntu CDs given out at their events, fair enough I
suppose.

Of course when we're introducing someone who's new to it all we're
biased and suggest Ubuntu as a good starting point and unless someone is
into it we don't explain distributions and all their forms, that's a
marketing thing and depends how much time you have.

The MA LoCo doesn't have a FOSS/LUG banner, so this even was an Ubuntu
event and it was unfortunate that the people couldn't get over
themselves to promote FOSS, but the event went down and it was very
successful.

I hope not, I've worked hard to make sure that our culture is inclusive
that people have self authority to go out there and run all kinds of
events, get together and be polite and kindly with each other. Of course
it's not easy to get commitment from busy professionals but sometimes it
works, only last week we had an Ubuntu Hour organised by someone
completely new to the group.

I hope I've made clear that the LoCo isn't loco.

Also look kindly towards Danny, I don't think he means to suggest that
LoCo teams be shut down, but that their membership might be interested
in joining another team.

If the MA LibrePlanet group is a success, I look forward to having the
MA LoCo collaborate on events and activities here.

Martin,
