We have successfully migrated Log4CXX to VS2010 using the project conversion sequence VS6 -> VS2008 -> VS2010 as described in the Microsoft Connect page (shown in message below). Problem of importing a VS6 project into VS2010 is not limited to the Express edition, we have the Professional edition and still had to use VS2008 as an intermediate point.
Another point when migrating to VS2010. VS2010 has some differences in the directory search paths. In particular, some of the PC-specific paths are now part of the project settings.
