Hello all,

A while ago I led a discussion concerning NDC enhancements on this list. I was concerned by the need to call NDC.remove(), in particular in J2EE environments where threads are controlled by the application server and not the application.

At time I thought I had established a consensus about the need for the changes and I went ahead and coded the changes and submitted them under bug 25890 (http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=25890).

Since that time others have brought the similar concerns about the NDC class. I think that these changes are needed in order to use the NDC functionality in a production J2EE environment.

Unfortunately, it appears that none of the committers have adopted my bug. Consider this an open plea to any of the committers to please consider applying my changes.

I understand that all of the committers have full-time jobs and are volunteers. (In fact, I myself have been very busy at work and haven't participated as much as I would like.) I hope that you do not misunderstand the tone of this email -- it is not intended to be negative. I would just like to 1) not lose the work I have done and 2) see log4j improved in this area.

Thank you for your consideration,
Ray DeCampo
