Strategy and branding are very important, even bad products can be selled with good marketing (no examples - no flames...) And one aspect of a very good product is a good strategy, a strong name/brand. Aside from that discussion: What are the requirements for the next version? Is ugli as it is satisfying? (Just meant as listing, not valuating) Is backward compatibility the only thing? Which features are missed? Which design is needed to be changed? The only detailed description of a requirement (again, just listing, not valuating) I found was the "enterprise logger".[1] This discussion was at JCL mailing list. In short - I am missing the technical point of view.
