I did some more testing. It actually works with min and max settings.
But if you change the log4j2.xml while tomcat is running it will reload and 
start acting strange. (ie not zipping, not flushing before archiving and stuff 
like that)
If you stop tomcat, then modify the settings, redeploy and start tomcat again, 
it all works fine.
