appenders for remote log viewing

I'm curious about remote log viewing, similar to using Chainsaw and the 
SocketAppender in log4j. I see the UdpAppender and the RemotingAppender, but 
I don't see any way to use either one. Implementing a SocketAppender sounds 
like a good idea to me. Is there a working solution out there?
