Sally,

In the header (or footer) for each table listing the discussions in a LON-CAPA
discussion board there is a link: "Other Views ...". If you click that link,
and then check the "Show a list of current posters" checkbox in the pop-up
window, and push "Save changes", a new pop-up window will be displayed with a
table listing the names of posters and how many posts they have made. You
could copy and paste the text from that window into a text editor, save as a
.txt file, and import into a spreadsheet (as a tab-delimited or space-delimited
file).

I can also add your e-mail address as a CC to a couple of existing LON-CAPA
enhancement request: 2174 and 2642 (e.g., bugs.loncapa.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2642
), if you would like to be notified when work is done on those feature
requests.

Subject: [LON-CAPA-users] track student responses to Discussion Board?

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is healthy.

Does anyone know if there is a feature that summarizes which students in a
class have posted to a dedicated discussion board? And possibly how many times
the students posted to the board? I want to assign credit for participation.
For a class with 20-30 students, that can be done manually without too much
trouble, but for larger classes. an automated method would be helpful. I could
use an essay type problem, but I want the students to discuss/share openly
(even if anonymously).

Thanks,
