The SE/30 has a a Molex connector on the motherboard for the speaker. Also,
the SE/30 has a 1/8" audio-out jack which is in theory capable of stereo,
but according to
http://developer.apple.com/technotes/hw/hw_14.html
actually mixes stereo down to mono.

  My IIsi was doing the same thing. It uses leaf spring contacts under
the MoBo for the speaker and "on" LED. I don't know how the SE/30 is
arranged, but polishing the solder terminals on the board and bending
the leaves up slightly cured my intermittent sound problems.  Hardy
