Rather run out the entire schmear, I just will show the language change that I made to Article IX of the LPCO By-Laws. Since I sent out copies of the by-laws and the constitution earlier, you should be able to do a comparison.

Knowing that some of you have only dial-up access, and some of you may not have gotten the copies that I sent out of the existing docs, you can go to the LPCO website and read the existing by-laws and the constitution at http://www.lpcolorado.org/cbl.htm

For the by-laws, all I have is this change:

Article IX - ELIGIBILITY

All candidates for public office or state board must be registered members of the party for 60 days one year prior to the last date on which the party can file its certificate of designation with the appropriate election official.

Reading through all of the business in Article II - DUTIES OF THE BOARD and Article III - BOARD OF DIRECTORS, I cannot find anything that says diddly about what is required to be a state board member.

The way the current by-laws are written, anyone could be elected to be a state board member. When I say ‘anyone’ I mean that there’s no requirement to even be a Libertarian. Geeezzz!

So I added this ‘or state board’ to the proposed revision.

I figure if we are going to say that a candidate should be a registered Lib to be eligible, then those that have the preliminary say in who is eligible should also meet the same requirements.
