LPI Announces new Affiliate in Croatia

(Sacramento, CA, USA: November 30, 2011) The Linux Professional
Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), announced a new Master Affiliate for Croatia
(LPI-Croatia). LPI-Croatia will be managed and operated by the Croatian
Linux Users Group--Hrvatska Udruga Linux Korisnika (HULK:
http://www.linux.hr).

"The Croatian Linux Users Group is a leading advocate for the use of
Linux and Open Source Software in its region. We welcome them into the
global network of LPI affiliates as they will provide an additional
community voice for professional training and IT certification in Linux.
LPI consistently seeks out region-specific partners for our program as
these local organization provide much needed support in translation and
on-the-ground connections to academia, government and business," said
Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI. Mr.Lacey noted that HULK has been
active in Croatia since 1996 and are leaders of a highly popular Linux
conference in Croatia, DORS/CLUC
(http://www.osor.eu/events/hr-dors-cluc-2011).

Vlatko Košturjak of HULK noted that LPI certification is important in
the region as it assures clients and employers that IT professionals
have the requisite skills and knowledge to work with Linux: "During last
few years in Croatia and the Adriatic region, we have experienced a
rapid and growing adoption of Linux systems and Free and Open Source
Software. Employing someone who is professionally certified to work with
these systems assures customers that IT projects will be completed
according to requirements. We see LPI certification as the solution to
this challenge since it is the industry's most popular and recognized
vendor neutral certification."

The Linux Professional Institute is globally supported by the IT
industry, enterprise customers, community professionals, government
entities and the educational community. LPI's certification program is
supported by an affiliate network spanning five continents and is
distributed worldwide in multiple languages at more than 7,000 testing
locations.
