I recently passed 101 and 102 and I must say that I was pleased with
the experience. The tests were challenging and I learned several
useful things studying for them.
The LPIC-1 is one certification that I'm proud to have and I'll be
taking the 201 soon.
Now for a criticism and a question. The welcome mail says this --
"If you would like your employer to verify your certification details
please go to this site:
https://www.lpi.org/verify"
That page returns an error ("The requested url could not be found").
It doesn't even redirect to the correct page. I made the mistake of
sending that url to a company who knew nothing about the LPI without
checking it first. It was embarrassing, to say the least. I
eventually found the correct verification page by logging onto the
site, but shouldn't I have been able to trust that the welcome mail
was accurate? I feel let down over this one. It shouldn't be that
difficult to put the correct information in the form mail.
That's one issue, but the real issue is the web site. In addition to
the problem with the verification page, I see several links on the
site that only go back to the main page. It's been this way for some
time now. I live in NYC and I've encountered several perspective
employers who knew nothing about the LPI. The web site is likely to
be the first encounter many people have with it.
Sorry to hammer this point so hard, but I'm proud of my certification
and the site does not do a good job of representing it. Does anyone
here know what the plans are for updating the new site and completing
the migration from the old one? Is there a timetable?
