Not really the case for LPI-related books, you'll see that most of us  
have been around the field for quite a while, been trainers and  
sysadmins and know that you have to have "street" knowledge in order  
to pass the LPI exams.

You must have these exams mixed up with Microsoft exams, I've been the  
proctor/instructor for thousands of students and I have yet to see  
someone successfully guess their way past the "fill in the blank"  
questions that are a prominent feature of the LPI exams.  Having to  
try every command and do most of every task live at least a couple of  
times is great preparation and I have found that I would willingly  
hire most of my successful students to be a sysadmin.  In short, it's  
no paper cert.
