Dear all,

we've got some exciting news: We will soon start the development of the
third Essentials exam which will focus on web development. The new exam
will be added next to the existing Linux Essentials and the currently
developed Security Essentials exams.

There is an initial draft for exam objectives which is available in the
wiki for your review:

  https://wiki.lpi.org/wiki/Web_Development_Essentials_Objectives_V1.0

Please keep in mind that this is an Essentials exam. It is intended for
candidates who had their first experience with the subject in school or
university, no longer than what can be covered in a single course
throughout a single semester. The Objectives are intended to cover the most
important aspects for the topic and teach just enough feature to implement
a simple sample app in a course. For this reason several topics like
asynchronous communication are intentionally not included in the draft.

The draft is largely based on the work of Patricia Steves who wrote her
bachelor thesis at LPI in fall. The draft passed our internal QA processes
and was already signed off by LPI's Academic Advisory Committee.

Please share any thoughts, ideas, considerations and comments in this
thread or reach out to me personally in case you don't want to speak up in
public. If you'd like to help with item or learning material development,
please reachout to me or Markus directly, too.

Looking forward to your comments,

Fabian
