Half of the SMTP relays on the Internet are EXIM. A huge number of Service
Providers use EXIM, and it's popular with blackbox appliances used for
filtering and security too.

As much as I'm considered a 'red Fedora,' Debian w/EXIM out-of-the-box is
something I consider a 'best practice.' The lack of having to pipe things,
like in Postfix (let alone Sendmail), is why I prefer EXIM, and Debian does
an excellent job with it out-of-the-box.

And most Service Providers use a 18-36 month refresh, so Debian itself is
very popular too. And being IT-centirc, they have enough staff in-house to
make it very viable. In fact, Debian is very well built by these
organizations.

So they traditionally don't run more 'Enterprise' labeled distributions
with SLAs. Although it is my hope that now that RHEL Stream has become
public CentOS Stream as of 2019, it will increasingly become popular for
such things too.

I hated not working at a major account, and not having access to Stream
prior to 2019. Beyond Wall Street and Hollywood, the bigs [among providers]
(Facebook, Twitter) have long run Stream, and now that it's public, they
have have public SIGs and development in the open, like their HyperScale
modifications that will never be a part of RHEL, but may be in the next
RHEL.
