Personally, I see your query... And even as a person with a passion with DataBases, I suspect it comes down to % of use. Pretty much everyone needs samba (SMB) to live in todays enviroment... apache can at least be used for a small intranet without much effort. Sorry to say at least in my experience, DB doesn't have a 'small-step' entry. I would appear in my recent reading that FileMaker Pro is the first option (open source or $$) that gives the term relational to a DB that has been created for a productivy worker and not an engineer.  Just what I'm seeing.... anyone care to enlighten me otherwise?
