I believe that that's where a member of our local LUG is going. Look for a
little short guy named William, from Jacksonville, Florida. (He's a
Gentoo-head, so he'll probably be hanging out with that crowd.)

Yeah, I can see your point. On the other hand, there are still quite a few old
P-III and P-IV machines that are running PATA drives. So, Linux users are
going to see something wrong when they see their drives designated as
"/dev/sd*" drives. Currently, no LPI study materials explain why that is.
And, when the exam objectives imply that all PATA drives will always be
designated as "/dev/hd*", then LPI is helping to propagate outdated knowledge.

Putting something in about libATA can help you avoid getting into a "Here's how
you need to know it for the exam, but here's how it is in real life" type of
scenario. (That scenario would make a rather tricky situation for Linux
instructors who don't want to violate their non-disclosure agreement.)

If some way could be found to include it, but to also to avoid it turning into
"gimme" questions, I think that that would be the best way.

Ciao,

Donnie
