No worries there. The closest OpenLDAP gets is to AD integration.

We won't. To be clear, there were a number of non-technical reasons
(at least, they feel non-technical to me) for the creation of the 300
exam. It has become very clear that the 301 (ldap/capplanning)
sounded good when we thought that this would be core knowledge for the
rest of the 300 exam series. Time and exam development has shown that
to not be the case.
A lot of people would like to get the Security and/or the HA/Virt
LPIC-3 certs but they can't without taking the 301 exam, too. So, to
help remove this barrier, we moved some ldap basics and capplanning to
the LPIC-2 and merged the remaining 301/302 content into 300.
Partially, to keep things more or less consistent but to also allow us
to drop the 301 requirement on the 303/304 certifications.

I think that you're points sum up the situation. This is why there is
still a lot of Samba3 coverage in 300 and OpenLDAP hasn't
dissappeared.
Check the edit history for the 300 exam, though:

FreeIPA, Kerberos and SSSD were proffered for the exam but, for
various reasons, they were moved sideways to a potential 303 update
(which, I'm guessing will happen sooner than later).
