It does make logical sense to explain about logrotate when explaining the 
logging infrastructure, and this (time permitting) is what I do in classes and 
our training materials even though the exam doesn't currently mention it 
explicitly. 

We can't expect the exams to cover every single thing that is useful at all 
times. We shall presumably have to start talking about journald in our classes 
and training materials long before LPI gets around to putting journald on the 
exam. There will be another scheduled revision of the LPIC-1 exams in two 
years or so and then we can see what is important at that time.

»Teaching to the exam« is seldom a good idea.
