Debugging a kernel is the only reason I can think of for wanting a vmlinux but that feat is beyond the scope of LPIC-2...and anyone wanting to debug a kernel would know how to compile their own. The statement might also be a reference to knowing the kernels on non-x86 systems but we dropped that expectation many years ago. Regards, --matt -- G.
