I'm running Linux Mint (Debian based) and I have the directory $ ls /etc/network/ if-down.d/ if-pre-up.d/ interfaces.d/ if-post-down.d/ if-up.d/ run/ If that was your question.
For Debian based distros at least, /etc/network/interfaces is the main configuration file for networking.
