Again, just providing information.

Both POSIX compliant ex [2e] and vi [2v] include regular expression
support, and reference the concept of macros, but do not define any
macro standards, or how they are executed (left to
implemenation/site-local).

I believe this is also the case since 1003.1-1993 (possibly even
1988), but I have only provided 1003.1-2008 links from The Open Group
(which are still a decade old).

P.S.  Again, I'm just seeing a lot of anti-Vi and pro-Vi here, and I
think it's more important to get away away from "choice" and
"opinion," and first try to define what the LPI Objectives should be
focused on -- before even attempting to evaluate the tools.
